The10,000+ artifact collection has been secured by an Act of Congress for the Inland Northwest community

167,000 pounds of non-artifact support equipment moved by USAF to temporary storage

Spokane Home Builders Assoc., is donating temporary office space for Museum Society

Development

Phase I of the building will contain 23,600 sq. ft.

All-Services water feature and Flag Plaza entry way

Visitor parking lot

Daylight filled galleries for aircraft exhibit and all services memorabilia

Visitor’s center – exhibit explanations

*

Restaurant – quality meals for museum visitors and conference attendees

*

Gift Shop – gifts, souvenirs and items of military history

Archival Research Library

*

Conference and special event meeting in open gallery space – seating for 250

Outdoor display of B-52

*

B-52 cockpit simulator and Atlas missile control panel in specially designed railroad cars

Administrative offices – including area for accession of artifact donations

Phase II will have a total of 99,300 sq. ft. of additional gallery space

Taxiway to allow working aircraft to visit the museum

*

Additional exhibit gallery space and a full Restoration Shop – used to restore or modify new acquisitions or complete contract work on private aircraft with public viewing access.

Impact on Community

An international point of destination for tourists and conferences providing a $20 million economic impact annually while preserving our military and aviation history from the Civil War to the present.

Galleries that convey the technology of an era, and optimally present the lives and culture of the people who used the artifacts in the collection.  Our artifact collection is valued at over $728,000 and our 32 aircraft collection valued at over $5,418,228.

Educational resources available to 300,000 students in 183 school districts of the Inland Northwest.  All colleges and universities within the area will be impacted and also include:

Research Library with more than 50,000 archival documents available to students, government agencies and community members.

Internship Programs with hands-on experience for college students with accredited history curriculum utilizing museum collection and extensive archival library of military and world history

*

Interactive educational programs and tours for area students

*

“Points of History” and “Points of Pride” curriculum for ROTC classes from universities and high schools

The new museum will compliment and work in cooperation with the Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC) and represents the region’s extensive military history.  It will also be collaborative with other museums, providing a continuum of service in technology programs and event promotions.
